Community Programs and Services
Central Florida Compassion Center recognizes that people experience various forms of challenging circumstances. Some can be very long term, while others are simply short term.
Using this knowledge, we have developed a number of services that help to address these issues in hopes to give people the upper-hand they're needing in life.
Hand Up Food Program
Individuals or families who fall below the poverty line may qualify for our Hand Up Food Program. Application for membership is required, and once approved, members can receive canned and boxed foods for a very small contribution. Members will also receive breads, fruits and vegetables free of charge whenever supply is available.
Emergency Food
For those short-term situations where families and individuals experience an interruption of income, Central Florida Compassion Center provides free groceries from our pantry shelves. Helping with groceries frees up whatever finances are available in order to pay for other important necessaties.
Subsidized Clothing
In addition to our food programs, Central Florida Compassion Center also provides a thrift store where clothing is available for children and adults of all ages and size. Most of the articles of clothing we provide are priced at $1 or less so that anyone can afford quality clothing for their family's needs.
Access Florida
The Central Florida Compassion Center is an approved Access Florida Center. This allows us to help families with the application process for the many state and federal assitance programs such as:
- Food Stamps
- Medicaid
- Temporary Cash Assistance
|
- Florida Kidcare
- Safe Line / Life Line
- Unemployment Benefits

Help For The Homeless
In recent years the State of Florida has seen an increase in the homeless population living on her streets. To address this issue, the Central Florida Compassion Center begins by providing food and clothing to them on a regular basis free of charge.
Because we don't simply want to provide a hand-out that leaves individuals in a continual state of need, we encourage our homeless patrons to volunteer here at the Compassion Center in order to build self-esteem and begin developing into a more productive member of society. For those that continue to progress and present motivation, we help to seek permanent employment.
We also have special relationships with organizations that help individuals with breaking addictions, and become more self-sustaining.
Annual Community Events
During special times of the year, the Central Florida Compassion Center holds large community events in cooperation with local police, fire and other social organizations.
These events are not only held in order to distribute life sustaining goods, but also to educate and inform on issues ranging from child protection, available social services and the importance of faith.
Free Voucher Program
Organizations such as churches and other non-profit groups who routinely help families in need of emergency items can receive Central Florida Compassion Center food vouchers at no cost. These vouchers allow anyone to come into our pantry and recieve food and other items they need.
